President: Alexandra OlivoLink to video:
Good morning my fellow Americans, my name is Alexandra Olivo and I am running to be your next President of United States of America. Running alongside me is my trusted and determined team: Vice President Gabrielle Filosa, Secretary of State John Aliberti, Secretary of Education Diana Benedetto and, Secretary of the Treasury Marissa Firestone. Before briefing my plans for our foreign policy, education system, and economy, I want to take the time to share my mission statement with you.
Throughout my life, I have stared down my fears and faced adversity. I have worked hard and earned my accomplishments. My persistence and determination is why I am the leader that this country needs. Each time I am faced with adversity, I take a step back and strategize a plan on how to move forward. I ponder different solutions, I weigh pros and cons and, ultimately, I do my best to pick the right course of action. My approach may be seen as a weakness, but I pledge to respect the problem-solving process when it comes to our home, the USA. In high school, I earned my role as captain of the Varsity Kickline team. This opportunity allowed me to take the lead alongside my fellow co-captains and create an encouraging environment for my teammates. Over time, I developed confidence and kept reaching goals, like running for treasurer of Leo club, an organization based on community service and giving back. Every day of my life, I constantly lead by example. I am often known as the person who is always smiling and as the person who works hard for the things she’s earned. These qualities will allow me to make America the place where all people are heard and where everyone's opinion is valued. And THAT is my mission statement: to hold our values high and stay true to our vision for America. The world we know today was shaped by the tragic events of September 11, 2001. On this day, Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda hijacked 4 planes and attacked vital US buildings such as the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. This sparked the United States’ intervention in Afghanistan. Our plan was to dismantle Al-Qaeda and remove their base of operations in Afghanistan by terminating the Taliban’s regime. Our troops invaded Afghanistan on October 7, 2001 and while our time there has paid the price of hardships, we have also found success. We captured and killed Osama bin Laden, we ended his power over Al-Qaeda. 17 years later our fight continues in Afghanistan. While some people argue we should leave, due to reasons like our increasing debt, we believe it is important to stay. Standing our ground in Afghanistan until a compromise is reached, avoids putting the American and Afghan citizens at risk of further destruction. Leaving Afghanistan now will make us vulnerable to future terrorist attacks and terrorist organizations will have the ability to gain more power and weaponry to use against us and the citizens of Afghanistan. As I speak, the Taliban has been gaining power and recruiting more men. I want to limit our time there by working nonstop until we reach a compromise. It is time we strategize a way out to stop pouring our money into battle and, more importantly, to finally bring our troops back home. Although continuing this war causes concerns, a vote for me is a vote for trusted decision making regarding our war with Afghanistan and the safety of our people. Today on our homefront we are also facing problems in our education system like socioeconomic inequality and our declining rank in education worldwide. Unfortunately, we are still seeing varying graduation rates across race and state lines. Wealthier families can afford expensive private schools and homes in affluent public school districts, offering them more educational resources than the common working class American. These families are prepared for their children to succeed scholastically and have opportunities in their desired careers. Families that live in lower-income communities have less choices and are left to attend the poorly funded public school in their neighborhood. I aim to level the playing field and distribute funds equally to schools in need. Despite these adverse conditions, our high school graduation rates have increased to 84 percent. Our national rates are showing that about 4 of every 5 high school students earn a diploma in 4 years. Our high school aged citizens are determined to succeed and I promise to support them. If elected, I will make sure that all Americans have access to a quality education, no matter their socioeconomic background. College is a difficult topic for young adults to discuss while trying to find the pathway for their future. More students need to have access to affordable higher-level education. If elected into office, I will work diligently to improve our education system and provide equal opportunity to all our children. Debt in America has skyrocketed in recent years and we have reached 21 trillion dollars. Since 2009, the national debt has increased by 11 trillion dollars and at this rate our national debt is expected to grow by over 13 trillion dollars in the next decade. We are currently spending more on just interest than on the Departments of Education, Energy, Labor, and Transportation combined. This climbing debt is the product of excessive and careless spending. We, as a country, spend more money than we earn. Our involvement in Afghanistan and the War in Iraq have contributed greatly to this debt. We have spent almost 5 trillion dollars in Afghanistan and 1.7 trillion dollars in Iraq with an additional 490 billion dollars in veteran earned benefits. Our expenses will grow by 6 trillion over the next four decades if we stay for an extended amount of time. But I will make sure our country will not be spending the next forty years overseas. I have plans for the next 5 years to achieve our goals and bring our soldiers home. These next 5 years will ensure that we use an appropriate amount of funds and use our best tactics in dismantling the terror groups and bringing peace. With me as your president, I will stop the growth of our national debt and work hard with my team to reduce the enormous amounts of money we owe to our allies. America--it’s now up to you. The choice is in your ballot... to choose who you trust... as your next president. I believe that I, Alexandra Olivo, and my running mate Gabrielle Filosa share the same ideas and goals as most Americans on our foreign policy, economy, and education system. The change starts here by choosing me as your next leader, your next commander, your. next. President. Thank you and God Bless America. Vice President: Gabrielle Filosa

Good Morning and Thank you for having me here today My name is Gabrielle Filosa, I would like to briefly explain why me and my running mate Alexandra Olivo are the clear cut choice for President and Vice President. I believe that I have many aspects that would make me a good leader. With my time on kickline I have learned about what it really means to be a leader. Leadership is defined as a person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country. However being a leader is much more than that. Being a leader is standing up for what you believe in as well as helping others develop and reach their full potential. As well as being a leader I am persistent. This is a great attribute because when our country is in a time of hardship. I will continue to push through with the course of action until our goal as a country is reached. I am also a good listener. Being a good listener is important because I will hear the words of my fellow Americans and incorporate their ideas into my actions.
An example of my leadership skills are similar to those displayed in a president I admire greatly, George W. Bush our 43rd president of the United States. President Bush served as the leader of our country from 2001-2009. On the 234th day of his presidency he was faced with the biggest American crisis since pearl Harbor, the attacks of September 11th, 2001. This was a defining moment in his presidency although very early on. Three days later on September 14th he stood atop a pile of ashes and rubble down at ground zero in New York City, to deliver an impromptu speech, talking about terrorism, reassuring Americans that his presidency will be quick and decisive in response to counteract the attack on America. He thanked the volunteers and workers for their bravery and hard work. 12 hours later after the attack The president speaks passionately, "I can hear you! The rest of the world hears you! And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!", an empowering statement that chilled Americans but gave a sense of comfort and security in which everyone had lacked since that day. Although the attack was on New York City, it was an attack against all Americans. Bush helped unite our country and our allies against the fight for terrorism. From this point forward, Americans held a sense of trust in their president, something that I want to work into our country along with my president. Bush gained respect and held trust from Americans with topics like foreign policy, because he promised Americans he would fight for those lives lost and most importantly fight the war on terror and for our freedoms. Following the events which took place on September 11th, 2001, President Bush sent 1,300 troops into Afghanistan. This only began our fight to end terrorism. The Olivo administration promises to have a strong work ethic as was displayed by President Bush during the worst attack on American soil. We will continue to fight terrorism at home as well as abroad by protecting our borders and moving on legislation for gun control, just to name a few. My fellow Americans a time has come to make a choice by casting your vote for me and Alexandra Olivo we will put america on a path towards unity, safety, and freedom for all. |
